![]() Yeah, I'm plump. You want to make something of it?
The Quick Notes- Yes, you WILL be tested on these:
O_O Goodness!:P My name is Kylen Christine Miles. However, most people call me Ky, which they find easier to say than my real name. However, I will only accept a few people calling me that, so if I don't know you well and you send me an email calling me "Ky"- let's just say that's not a great way to get started out with me. My other nicknames include Chick, Kayle, Ponygirl, Spitz, and The Spitz Dog. I was born May 21st, 1981, so that would make me 20 now ;P I was born in Riverside, California, "everyone's favorite desert hell-hole", as one fictious book put it. I lived there only a couple of years and grew up in the city of the state's capital, Sacramento/Rocklin. I resided there until I graduated from Rocklin High School, and then moved on-campus to my current college, Loyola Marymount University in Westchester, Los Angeles. I am in my third year of college there, majoring in classical/traditional animation.
I am one of those people who has been drawing all her life. LOL, here is a scan of an OLD OLD OLD OLD drawing I did when I was much younger. Henh.
God no. I even hate that goddamned sickening term. "Furry". *shudder*. I don't consider myself to be a "furry" or really even part of "furry fandom". I am just a person who enjoys looking at quality anthropomorphic art and drawing some of my own, nothing more. I don't like all that the term "furry" ecompasses. There IS a fine line between "Anthropomorphic Artist" and "Furry Fan". Unfortunately, the more perverse of the fandom has blurred that line to the point where the moment someone who has heard about "furries" catches you drawing a seemingly innocent picture of a four-legged animal, they automatically assume you hump it as well. Augh.
Nope. Up until 8th grade drawing was only a hobby of mine I did in my spare time ( and for a little money ) for fun or out of boredom. At the time, I was literally entertaining the idea of a career in archaeology. Then, sometime during my 8th grade year, approximately 1994, I decided that I wanted to make art my career- particularly animation.
My artwork and comics can be seen in "Huzzah!" magazine, which you can order through mailbox books. Or, go to Huzzah! for more information. I have done illustrations for a short story in Anthrolations magazine. I illustrated a sign language teaching book- but the author decided not to publish it. I do have some poetry published in the Poetry anthologies, "Nature's Echoes", and "Letters from the Soul". So look for them on bookshelves :D I was the storyboard artist for two live action films from Paramount Pictures ( as of yet, the film has no scheduled release ).
What one of my biggest inspirations is is music. Music is a big part of my life. I wish desperately that I could write my own or perform it or play it, but I cannot. But, I can dream it up in my head and imagine it and put it down on paper through drawings to the best of my ability. Music provides such a mood and atmosphere, it has always had great impact on my art and it's content. Other inspirations come from all the great animated films before me- there are so many wonderful films by so many wonderful and different, unique studios.
Just about anything- but with heavy emphasis on Classic Rock, Synth Pop, and Broadway. My all time favorite music group is of course, The Moody Blues. My other loves are Erasure, October Project, Pink Floyd, Neil Diamond, Pat Benatar, The Offspring, Billy Joel, Sarah Brightman, Enya, Alanis Morsiette, Adiemus, Anthony Warlowe, Barry Manilow and Rammstein.
"Jekyll and Hyde" in first place, with "Martin Guerre" following in at a close second. I simply adore "Jane Eyre", "Cats", "The Phantom of the Opera", "The Secret Garden", "Miss Saigon", "Les Miserables", "Starlight Express", "Evita", "The Scarlet Pimpernel" (thanks Shen!), "Chess", "The Fix", "Tell me on a Sunday", and "The War of the Worlds", "Notre Dame de Paris" and "Jesus Christ Superstar" and "Oliver!"
I'm a Disney lover- so kill me. I also love Don Bluth, Rankin and Bass, and I am really beginning to admire Dreamworks. As for my favorite animated features, they are in no particular order: "Princess Mononoke", "The Dog of Flanders" "101 Dalmatians", "Rock and Rule", "Watership Down", "The Plague Dogs", "The Hunchback of Notre Dame", "Anastasia", "Balto", "The Flight of Dragons", "The Last Unicorn" , "The Lion King", "Mulan", "The Secret of Nimh", enh..and more!
"Married with Children", "Golden Girls", "The Drew Carey Show", "Who's Line is it Anyway?", "Road Rovers!", "Captain Simian and the Space Monkeys", "The PowerPuff Girls", "I Love Lucy" and I don't Love "Gargoyles", but I do enjoy watching it for something to do :)
Watership Down, The Plague Dogs, Mrs, Brisby and the Rats of NIMH, Wolf of Shadows, The Horse Hunters, The Outsiders, Tailchaser's Song, 1984, The Last Wolf of Ireland, The Wolves of Paris, The Wild Road, In the Lake of the Woods, They Came to Cordura, The Moon is Down
Wolves! Following closely behind are kangaroos, sea lions, and okapis. I've got this obsession for rats, too.
Of course I do!!! And as soon as I move off-campus you can bet I am going to have a lot more. Currently I have a small tank of fish containing a beta, some bala sharks and tiger barbs, some phantom tetras and my coveted neon blue dwarf gourami :o) I currently have 2 rats, Kipper a super sweet grey and white fancy rat, and an ash-grey hooded, Rivet. And of course, I could not possibly forget my beloved American Eskimo Dog, Allie!!!!!!
English, French ( je parle francais, ) Welsh ( Rydw i'n dysgu Cymraeg ), German
First of all, it's to get through my animation college and get a job somewhere in the industry. I do not have any particular studio preference at the moment- my main goal is to actually get INTO the industry. From there, I want to build up a portfolio and transfer to a more major studio, particularly Walt Disney ( yeah, I want to work for the evil empire. So sue me ). I also have a particular interest in working for Don Bluth ( if he ever gets his act together ) and I am looking into Dreamworks. After working for the studios several years and saving up, I plan to buy the rights to Whitley Strieber's "Wolf of Shadows" and Tad Williams' "Tailchaser's Song" and adapting them for independent animated films. I have already started work on the adaptions and character designs- of course, I will not make any of it public or even go further on the projects until I raise the money to buy the rights to adapt the books. At the age of 20, I have already hit the urge to settle down into a place of my own and starting family life. Mom, if you are reading this, I know you are scared ;) I am currently living in a 6 girl apartment in Los Angeles, Ca. Yeah- you heard me- I live with 5 other girls. It is hell. PURE hell.
You bet I do! A college girl needs SOMETHING to do late nights while typing up essays and studing for exams. Rest assured I am not one of those hardcore fanatics- I just think it's kinda cool. From left to right, Doe Flyairth, Jolene, Lingerh, and Nissah ^^
