Well, it's about time for my once-in-six-months art posting. There's some darker spots on the bottom (details and so on) that didn't scan in, but show in person....wierd. Pic done entirely in prisma markers. As always, critique welcome, at all levels. [This message has been edited by Shamon Cornell (edited 08-13-2002).] IP: 64.131.121.77 |

Nice to see something different. What I noticed first and foremost is that the moon seems to want to be very luminous....but it instead contains its light. You should have at the very least a faint glow around the moon...and maybe even soften up the highlights on your character. I can't see what the character is standing on very well...but perhaps make a neutral blue highlight on the crag to the left so it doesn't look like the rock ends where his tail ends. Does that make sense? Also the dark area on the right...is that water? Or just an abyss. If its water a few highlights won't hurt it. If its an abyss use a little more color to make it gradually fade into darkness. And i'm not really sure what that extremely shiny thing is below his tail. On the character, I like the mood! But its kind of hard to understand how the scythe stands so freely on its own at that angle. He should either be holding it with one hand, or it should be a little more vertical so it can stand in the dirt by itself. Hope this helps shamon! IP: 64.164.36.72 |

quote: From my prospective the character appears to be on a cliff. Also my guess is that the scythe is standing because there are holes or crevices that might be deep enough to hold it.Another idea is that he (the Character) has supernatural strength or power that can force that scythe into the ground. Overall the pic makes one wonder or mystified and only a handfull of pics i've seen has these qualities. ------------------ IP: 172.149.44.83 |

Quite helpful, Kali! Yah, alot of stuff you pointed out was the stuff I was smacking myself for as I was finishing up the picture. Anyhoo, I'll answer the questions here, as nobody realy has any idea what's going through my twisted head but me ![]() I can't see what the character is standing on very well... Shamon's supposed to be standing on some wreckage...like a shelled-out building, or some such...as to the bit to the left, that was a sort of afterthought, as I went the entire picture without the "inking" phase....all my pens were dead. I prolly should've gone and re-touched/highlighted things here and there in Photoshop....but well, I have alittle too much pride in what my hands do. Also the dark area on the right...is that water? Or just an abyss. an abyss, since-darkened after scanning. ^^ And i'm not really sure what that extremely shiny thing is below his tail That's a bit of glass, actually....had I not highlighted it as I did, I figured it'd just look alot like the bits of concrete and re-bar in the BG there. But its kind of hard to understand how the scythe stands so freely on its own at that angle Well, much like Shamon's boots, it's mostly meant to be left to the imagination....to strip that away, tho, I suppose it could be assumed to be standing in a hole in the bit of wall he's standing on? I just did it like that 'cos it looked cool, really I appreciate the input, guys ^^ IP: 64.131.121.77 |
