Just though I'd post what I have of my story so far and get some opinions.Hunter, Blitz, Exile, Colleen, Shag, Master (C) WB
Sage (Mysterious Cano-Sapien) (C) Me
EXT. A Military base
The base looks completely deserted, save a few unconscious guards lying scattered about the front yard. Just then a dog-shaped car pulls up and stops in front of the base. The gull-wing doors of the car open and four figures step out of the car. They are Cano-Sapiens, beings with the bodies of humans, but the exterior features of canines (fur, tail, etc.). One is Hunter, a male Labrador Mix with blonde fur.
HUNTER:
(American accent)
We were told to be on our guard, but from the look of things, we could just waltz right in and no one would ever know.
Colleen, a female Collie, brown with white highlights, walks up next to Hunter.
COLLEEN:
It looks like someone may have done all of the work for us.
Exile, a male Husky with light-blue fur and white highlights, and Blitz, a male Doberman with black fur and brown highlights, join the other two.
EXILE:
I don’t know why, but I am having bad feeling, comrades.
BLITZ:
Ja, I agree with, Snowball.
EXILE:
(Slightly annoyed)
You call me that one more time, Weird Boy, and you will know what a snowball really feels like.
HUNTER:
I know what you mean, Exile. About the eerie feeling, I mean. This does feel a little eerie. Let’s take the Master’s advice and keep our guard up. Something could be seriously amiss here.
They all slowly begin walking towards the front entrance of the building.
INT. Same Military Base
The interior of the building looks exactly the same as the exterior, completely deserted except for the unconscious guards scattered across the floor and leaning against walls. Colleen walks over to one of the guards and places her index and middle fingers on his neck.
HUNTER:
Are they dead?
Colleen stands up and rejoins him and the other Rovers.
COLLEEN:
Nope. They’ve all been knocked out.
She notices something on one of the guards’ necks and walks over to examine it. It is a large red mark that looks like it was made with something hot.
COLLEEN:
This is odd. Huntie, come here and look at this.
Hunter walks over, kneels down beside her, and begins to look at the strange red mark.
HUNTER:
What do you think it is?
Colleen shakes her head.
COLLEEN:
I don’t really know. I think it may have been a stun gun of some kind, but it looks way too big.
They both stand up and turn to face Exile and Blitz.
HUNTER:
Well, let’s make our way to the lab on the second level. Maybe we’ll find some answers there.
They all turn and continue down the hallway until they come to a blue door that has “stairs” in bold white letters on it. Hunter opens the door into the stairwell and begins leading them up to the second level.
INT. Lab on the 2nd level…
They open the door of the lab and walk inside. The lab is completely trashed and there are unconscious scientists lying all around, as well as files thrown around the place, computers knocked off desks, and there is a large safe at the far end of the room that appears to have been broken into. The Rovers walk around the room and staring in silent amazement.
COLLEEN:
Wow, someone definitely got here before we did.
HUNTER:
Yeah, but I thought we were the only ones who knew about the motherboard for the satellite being here.
Exile walks over and begins examining the safe.
BLITZ:
(Slightly nervous)
Do you think whoever did this is still here?
EXILE:
I am not thinking so.
He walks over to the others holding two small pieces of paper.
HUNTER:
What are those, Exile?
EXILE:
A picture and a note.
Hunter takes both of them and begins examining them.
COLLEEN:
What does the note say, Hunty?
HUNTER:
It says, “Rovers, It seems I’ve beat you this time. Better luck next time.”
They all gather round and look at the picture. It shows a tall figure dressed from head to toe in black including a black ski mask. He’s looking straight at the camera and has a computer motherboard under his left arm. They all look away from the picture then at each other.
FADE OUT
FADE IN
EXT. An abandoned airplane hangar
The outside is made completely of steel that is gathering patches of rust in places. Suddenly a black motorcycle stops in front of the huge double doors. A figure dressed completely in black and holding the computer motherboard under his left arm, walks up to the doors, opens them, and walks inside.
INT. Dining Room at RRHQ…
All of the Rovers head over to the table and sit down, except for Shag who walks over to the stove and begins pulling pots and pans out of the cabinets. Suddenly, the Master appears on the balcony shrouded in mist.
MASTER:
So, did you retrieve the motherboard?
HUNTER:
No, someone got the before we did, Master.
MASTER:
(Surprised)
What?
Colleen walks over to the balcony and gazes up and the Master.
COLLEEN:
Yeah, when we arrived he was gone along with the motherboard, and all that was left was a note and this picture.
MASTER:
What does the note say?
COLLEEN:
“Rovers, It seems I’ve beat you this time. Better luck next time.”
MASTER:
Hmm…And the picture?
COLLEEN:
It just shows whoever it is dressed completely in black with the motherboard under his arm.
MASTER:
Did you say he was dressed in black?
COLLEEN:
Yes, sir. It looks like he is a bloomin’ ninja or something.
MASTER:
(To himself)
Or a military operative.
Hunter walks over and joins Colleen. He looks up at the Master.
HUNTER:
Master, do you know who this guy he is?
The Master scratches his chin.
MASTER:
I may very well know exactly who it is.
HUNTER:
What should we do?
MASTER:
I’m not exactly sure. I’ll think of something.
He turns and leaves. Hunter and Colleen walk back over to the other Rovers, who are sitting around the table waiting for Shag to serve dinner. They sit down next to Exile.
HUNTER:
Is it just me, or does the fact that the Master might know who this guy is seem a little creepy?
EXILE:
Da, It is indeed a little unsettling, comrade.
FADE OUT
FADE IN
INT. Abandoned Hangar
There is a computer and tons of communications equipment on the far right wall, a workbench strewn with gun parts on the north wall, and a bed on the far-left wall. The figure in black walks in and places the computer motherboard next to his computer and walks over to his bed. He sits down, flicks on a lamp beside the bed, pulls off his ski mask and throws it on the floor. We then see the silhouette of a Cano-Sapien cast on the wall.
INT. RR Kitchen
TIME: Next Day…
The Rovers are all gathered around the table sipping coffee except Blitz who is doing a crossword puzzle in a newspaper.
BLITZ:
What’s an 8-letter word for “crazy”?
EXILE:
Weird Boy?
Colleen looks at Hunter who is slowly shaking his head and trying not to laugh. Then the Master appears.
MASTER:
Rovers, you have another mission.
All of the Rovers stand up and face the Master.
BLITZ:
Did the military lose another high priority component again?
MASTER:
No, Blitz. This mission is to try and find out who has beating you to your targets. I believe that this person may be monitoring the military’s communications lines. So, I have worked out a plan with the army. They are going to call us at a certain time, and tell us that they have had something stolen, and tell us where they have tracked it to. You will be waiting at the location to intercept this unknown operative.
HUNTER:
It sounds like a good plan, Master, but will it work?
MASTER:
It will, if you can do one of two things. Either you can capture the operative, or fit him with this tracking bug.
He holds up a computer chip with a blinking read light.
HUNTER:
How will we get this thing on him?
MASTER:
That is up to you. Do what ever you have to, even if that means engaging him in combat.
The Rovers turn and look at Colleen. She notices this and gets a puzzled look on her face.
COLLEEN:
What?
That's what I have so far.
